Cabbie returns forgotten money to Kuwaiti police cadet

CHON BURI: A taxi driver was praised for his honesty when he returned 53,000 baht and personal documents to a holidaying Kuwaiti police cadet who had left his bag in the cab.

Phaen Jitrabiat, 39,  found the bag in his taxi as he was about to take a nap inside it after taking the tourist from Suvarnabhumi airport to the resort town on Monday night. 

Mr Phaen said he opened the bag and saw it contained lot of cash. He then phoned his elder brother and told him about it before going to Pattaya City police station and asking them to help find the owner. He handed it in about 1.30am.

Police examined the documents inside and contacted Kwtalazmi Rashed, 19, who showed up at the police station shortly afterwards. He was delighted to get his bag back with the 53,000 baht cash and essential documents still secure inside it.  He thanked and praised the cabbie for his honesty, police said.

The driver said he certainly did not want keep other people’s belongings as his own. He had been providing a taxi service for several years and valued his reputation.
