A cabbie has been fined and ordered to take a training course after he was found watching what was claimed to be a porn video while driving his taxi.
The Land Transport Department said on Friday it had fined Natthakarn, whose last name was withheld, 1,000 baht for violating the Land Transport Act and ordered he undergo a three-hour training course on driving discipline, INN News reported.
His name was put on a watchlist so department officials could monitor his behaviour.
The penalty followed a woman posting a video clip on the Bai'Toei Mnw Facebook account showing a taxi driver ahead of her watching what she said was a porn movie while he was driving on On Nut road on Tuesday night.
The account owner said she was on a motorbike travelling immediately behind the taxi.
She decided to take a video and post the clip online as a warning to women who take taxis alone at night.
Mr Nattakarn told department officials that it was not a porn movie. It was a video promoting energy drinks, he said. He was on his way home and had no intention of picking up any passengers.
