CAB seize thousands in operation targeting 'significant organised crime group'

The Criminal Assets Bureau has seized cash, phones and documents in an operation targeting a "serious organised crime group" in south Dublin.

CAB officers, supported by the Emergency Response Unit, Crumlin District Detective Unit personnel and the Customs Dog Unit, raided two homes this morning.

Documents and records related to a property purchase were seized along with mobile phones, hard drives and €1,950 in cash.

A sum of €38,000 in a bank account was also frozen following the searches.

A garda spokesman said: "This morning’s operation was conducted as part of an on-going Criminal Assets Bureau investigation in to the acquisition of a property believed to be funded with the proceeds of crime.

"The target of this morning’s operation is linked to a significant organised crime group involved in the trafficking of controlled drugs."
