C.J. Uzomah tells Bengals coaches to ‘go get us some guys’

C.J. Uzomah sure knows how to win over Cincinnati Bengals fans.

Uzomah was one of the bright spots last season after he gritted through an injury, experiencing his best year as a pro and flashing some upside. The performance earned him a new extension with the team this past week.

According to Jay Morrison of The Athletic, Uzomah got in the ear of some coaches about making some moves in free agency. Morrison later said Uzomah was “referring to the team in general, not the offense” and the conversation pertained to outside free agents besides the team bringing back their own.

While Uzomah was likely kidding around, the Bengals weren’t. Thursday, they were linked to visits with Atlanta Falcons cornerback Brian Poole, Buffalo Bills guard John Miller and Denver Broncos linebacker Shaq Barrett. They ended up signing cornerback B.W. Webb.

The Bengals haven’t blown anyone away with their moves so far, but Uzomah appears to be getting his wish.
