C.J. Stroud named Big Ten football Freshman of the Week again

This is becoming a habit. After taking home the Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors in two of the first four weeks of the college football season (notwithstanding Week 0), Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud has been recognized as the recipient of the honor again after his performance against Rutgers.

After sitting a week to rest an ailing shoulder, Stroud came out looking like a more confident, deliberate, and accurate quarterback with more zip on his passes. He finished the game early against Rutgers because of how out of hand the score was, but went 17-of-23 for 330 yards and five touchdowns in a little over two-quarters of play. He did not throw a pick for the first time this season as Ohio State went on to beat the Scarlet Knights 52-13.

A Buckeye has taken home the Big Ten Freshman of the Week award every week they have played in 2021. Stroud won it in Weeks 1 (Minnesota), 2 (Oregon), and now 5, TreVeyon Henderson was recognized in Week 3 (Tulsa), and true freshman quarterback Kyle McCord was honored in Week 4 after the game against Akron.

It just goes to show you how talented the youth are on this football team and how bright the future still is.
