C.J. Mosley is Jets Wire’s Player of the Game vs. Bills

The Jets just couldn’t get out of their own way Sunday, blowing a 16-point lead and falling to the Buffalo Bills, 17-16.

However, linebacker C.J. Mosley had himself an all-out performance in his Jets debut. For that, he is Jets Wire’s Player of the Game for Week 1 of the regular season.

Mosley was making plays all over the place for the Jets and was single-handedly keeping the defense afloat. The Pro Bowler had five total tackles and two pass defenses in the game. The two big plays Mosley made were an interception he returned for a touchdown in the first quarter and then a fumble recovery on a Josh Allen botched snap.

Mosley’s playing time was cut short after he appeared to injure his groin breaking up a pass in the back end zone. Once he came out of the game, the Jets defense looked like Swiss cheese with the Bills getting big play after big play. It’s unbelievable how one player made such a difference on defense.

As for Mosley though, he showed every reason why he was worth what the Jets paid him. He’s the league’s highest-paid inside linebacker and is arguably the best at his position. He certainly looked like it on Sunday.

The Jets better hope Mosley’s injury is a minor one because after what we saw Week 1, the team can’t afford to be without him for even a single snap. He is the difference between the Jets having an average defense and a dysfunctional one.
