C.J. McCollum met the ‘I’m Trying Jennifer’ fan on ESPN before Game 2 and NBA Twitter went nuts

C.J. McCollum had an incredible run-in with a fan before Game 2 of the Western Conference finals in Oakland on Thursday night and it all happened live on ESPN.

The Portland Trail Blazers guard got to me the “I’m Trying Jennifer” fan in real life, a fan he has a long, funny history with.

If this story is new to you, here’s what happened: Last August, McCollum was on Twitter trying to clear something about on how he said he didn’t want to ever be on a super team. A fan, Jennifer Williams, then fired off a tweet telling him to “win a playoff game then talk.” To which McCollum replied by telling her, “I”m trying Jennifer.”

The whole thing went viral and it was a tweet that McCollum carried with him all season and then Jennifer congratulated him after last Sunday’s Game 7 win over the Nuggets.

Well, now we’ve come full circle as ESPN had Jennifer on their pregame show and McCollum got to tell her two simple words: Thank you.
