C.J. Anderson signed with Lions because ‘I was really wanted here’ in Detroit

When C.J. Anderson signed with the Detroit Lions this offseason, it marked the veteran RB’s fourth team in since the beginning of 2017. Anderson rebuffed advances by Detroit during the 2018 season after he was cut by the Panthers, signing with the Los Angeles Rams instead.

That decision took him to the Super Bowl. Yet he gladly jumped to the Lions in free agency with no issue.

“You want to go where you’re wanted,” Anderson said via Nate Atkins of MLive.com. “I was really wanted here.”

He also knows it’s a good fit for his particular set of skills.

“I just think that meshes well when you start adding Darrell Bevell and what he’s done in the past in Minnesota and Seattle with AP and Marshawn Lynch, Thomas Rawls, you can name back after back,” Anderson said. “It was a perfect fit.”

Anderson played a huge role in the Rams’ playoff run, and Lions fans can hope he continues to thrive in a shared backfield.
