In the lead-up to the Mercury prize winner announcement on Friday, we’ve got a lovely new video to share from one of the nominated artists. Glaswegian dreampop musician and composer C Duncan, whose debut album Architect earned him a place on this year’s Mercury shortlist, has reworked his 2014 single For – introducing, For (Autumn Rebuild).

Classically trained Duncan toys with time signatures and ramps up the original song’s sense of urgency, morphing For’s folk-pop sweetness into a Beach Boysesque swirl of cascading vocal harmonies and acoustic guitar runs. The video reflects its song’s fluidity, featuring dancers Tom Jackson Greaves and Edwin Ray weaving around each other’s bodies in time to the music.

“I wanted to experiment with different forms of light and the relationship between two people,” said director Helen Plumb. “To complement the beautiful layering within the song, Tom and Edwin’s choreography carries you through the nostalgic and playful elements of the autumn.”

Watch our premiere of the video below, and let us know what you make of it. Please take care: this video features strobe lighting and flashing lights that could pose a risk to viewers with photosensitive epilepsy.
