A member of the public was repeatedly punched after trying to confront a group of off-road bikers.
The person was attacked on Rochester Avenue, in Breightmet, Bolton , after the riders were spotted driving "erratically" around the area.
Police have now issued an appeal to find those responsible for the attack.
In a post on the GMP Bolton North Facebook page, an officer said: "We have received numerous reports of off road bikes driving erratically around the Breightmet area and pulling wheelies on the road this afternoon.
"One member of the public confronted the riders of the bikes on Rochester Avenue and was punched numerous times.
"If you have any information regarding who is riding the off road bikes or where they are being stored, please contact the Breightmet Neighbourhood Team on 0161 856 5761 or send us a direct message."
Officers in Bolton have repeatedly called in specialist teams to try to deal with the problem of off-road bikers who are often seen riding dangerously around roads and parks.
