MINNEAPOLIS _ Back-to-back 10th-inning victories have put the Twins in a spot they haven't been in all year: eight games over .500.
Byron Buxton launched a two-out home run in the 10th inning to give the Twins a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday night at Target Field.
Buxton's home run off the second pitch he saw from Luis Santos came one inning after Toronto All-Star Justin Smoak tied the score with a two-out home run off Matt Belisle. It came one night after Eddie Rosario hit a walkoff homer to beat San Diego 2-1.
The Twins won their third game in a row to move eight games over .500 for the first time this season. They had reached seven games over .500 twice before only to fall back each time.
Jose Berrios struggled with his control for much of the game but managed to pitch 5 2/3 innings, leaving with a 2-1 lead. Toronto scored its only run against him when Josh Donaldson blooped in an RBI single in the fifth inning, but Blue Jays starter Brett Anderson walked the bases loaded in the bottom of the inning before giving up a two-run single to Jorge Polanco.
