Byrds man to sue Microsoft for notes

"A NOTICE posted on Roger McGuinn's web site said he will sue Microsoft for allegedly using four notes of the Byrds' song Eight Miles High. According to the release, McGuinn, founder of the Byrds, will allege that the first four notes of the song are used in the closing down music for Windows XP," reports The Inquirer. More here.

Comment: McGuinn is very familiar with Windows sounds because he uses a Dell Inspiron 8200 running Windows XP and Cool Edit Pro as his recording studio. You can watch his video praising Dell by clicking DELL Video on his home page.

The real question now is: who composed the Windows XP sounds? The Windows 95 opener was done by Brian Eno.
