CHANDIGARH/SHIMLA: Byelections will be held for three assembly seats and one parliamentary constituency in Himachal Pradesh and one assembly seat in Haryana on October 30 while results would be declared on November 2. In HP, bypolls will be held for Jubbal-Kotkhai, Arki and Fatehpur assembly seats and the parliamentary seat of Mandi. With the announcement of election dates by the Election Commission, the model code of conduct has come into force in 8 districts of Himachal Pradesh.
The seats had fallen vacant after the deaths of Congress MLA Sujan Singh Pathania (Fatehpur), former chief minister Virbhadra Singh (Arki), BJP MLA Narender Bragta (Jubbal-Kotkhai) and BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma (Mandi LS seat). In Haryana, bypolls will be held for the Ellenabad assembly seat in Sirsa . The bypoll was necessitated due to the resignation of INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala in this January
