The Golden State Warriors started their season with three straight wins. Guard Steph Curry averaged 31 points, nine rebounds and seven assists per game. They’ve been one of the best teams in the league.
The Oklahoma City Thunder started their season a 21-point loss and a 33-point loss that made their 12-point defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers an exciting game.
Yet on Tuesday night, it was the hapless OKC team that led by as many as 15 points and took a double-digit lead into halftime.
In the end, the lead couldn’t hold and the Thunder couldn’t come away with their first win of the season. The Warriors outscored OKC by 16 points in the third quarter to manage a 106-98 victory.
But the Thunder, particularly in the first half, looked good in areas that had been simply bad in the first three games.
“We made great strides,” said wing Kenrich Williams, who had nine points, five rebounds and three assists off the bench. “The one thing that stands out is the competitiveness. If we’re gonna lose, we wanna lose in a fight.”
