‘Buzzword Betty’ Marjorie Taylor Greene slams the only ‘tax Trump actually pays’

Marjorie Taylor Greene is hearing it from her followers on X after calling for the abolishment of property taxes, which, according to one comment on her post, are the only taxes “Trump actually pays.”

In a strange non-sequitor, Greene also blasted health insurance, calling it a “giant scam,” adding, “I don’t know anyone, and I mean anyone, that supports the current healthcare system in the United States.”

Greene’s complete post read, “Hi. We need to completely abolish property taxes. It forces us to pay ‘rent’ to the government on property that we own, but if we don’t pay property taxes, the property that we own gets taken away from us. That should never happen in a free country.”

She added, “Secondly, health insurance is a giant scam that has become completely unaffordable. And it doesn’t make any sense and I don’t know anyone, and I mean anyone, that supports the current healthcare system in the United States.”

She concluded, “These are American Only issues and such significant problems that we should be addressing them the same way we would if our house was on fire. America Only!!!!!”

“Most of us can’t even afford a home”

Greene’s health insurance comment proved generally popular. But one comment noted in part, “Property tax? Why because that’s a tax trump actually pays? The people with massive real estate like Trump are the only ones worried about this. Most of us can’t even afford a home because we’re taxed so much on our income tax sales tax. Taxed everywhere, but we don’t get taxed on homes.”

The comment added, “The only person no property tax will help is the real estate giants like Trump. What that’s going to save the average American a few thousand?”

Another comment said, “Sooo, what’s the plan?? How about a summary about what that would look like?? Buzz word Betty!”

Greene’s inconsistent record on healthcare issues

Greene’s post also came not long after she voted yes on President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” which cut billions in federal Medicaid spending over the next decade, leading to nearly 11 million fewer Medicaid enrollees by 2034, according to some estimates.

Key provisions included the introduction of work requirements for Medicaid recipients, stricter eligibility verification processes, and limitations on provider taxes, all of which are expected to result in coverage losses and increased administrative burdens for states.

Additionally, the bill prohibited Medicaid funding for any health services provided by organizations that offer abortion services, such as Planned Parenthood, even if those services are privately funded.

Also notable, while Greene’s assertion that healthcare problems are “American Only issues,” property taxes are not, and as another comment noted, “If no one pays property taxes, who pays for local police, trash pickup, street maintenance, etc?”
