'Buzzing with that one' - Bristol Rovers fans react to victory at Lincoln City

It was as textbook an away performance as you'll see from a team all season: a 1-0 scoreline achieved via an outstanding defensive display and second-half penalty and a healthy level of game management that angered the home fans throughout.

Bristol Rovers produced a performance they can be proud of in their commitment to stifling and disrupting Lincoln's play and only adding to the wave of frustration around the club following the departure of management duo Danny and Nicky Cowley.

For Rovers it was a first victory on the road this seaso n and although only 419 Gasheads were there to see it in all it's glory, the satisfaction of the three points resonated across the country for those of a blue and white persuasion.

It was a welcome return to last season of stoic defence and spoilering tactics, which were absolutely required against a Imps side who like to move the ball quickly.

The tactical fouls and way they won free-kicks themselves angered the home support throughout, with referee Carl Boyeson also singled out, but it was precisely what was needed in the situation against that sort of opposition.

The display was also important to Coughlan and his players as it helped provide some closure on the disappointment of last Saturday's 3-3 draw against Accrington.
