Buzz Bingo robbers strike minutes before Saturday night main event

A bingo hall was targeted by masked robbers who threatened staff while the club was full of players waiting for the main event.

Buzz Bingo in Stonedale Retail Park on East Lancashire Road in Croxteth was targeted by thieves looking for bingo cash.

Two men on a motorbike entered the bingo hall at around 7.25pm on Saturday - just minutes before the main event kicked off inside.

The session started earlier that evening at 6:45pm and several players were inside the club at the time of the robbery.

Staff were threatened during the incident and the men fled the scene with a quantity of cash on a red coloured 'naked' style bike that left in the direction of East Lancashire Road.

The men wore motorcycle helmets, gloves, dark clothing and high-vis jackets during the bingo raid.

Merseyside Police confirmed an investigation is under way and CCTV enquiries are ongoing in the local area.

Detective Inspector Cath Haggerty said: “There would have been members of the public in and around the retail park last night and on the East Lancashire Road at the time of the robbery.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity who saw anyone or anything suspicious or saw the bike in the area to contact us. I would also ask anyone who believes they may have captured the bike on their dash-cam footage to contact us.

Anyone who may have information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting 846 of 25th May.
