Buyout deal for Advent Communications

UK PR agency PLMR has acquired Coventry outfit Advent Communications.

PLMR, which has had an office in Birmingham since 2017, has expanded its footprint in the region with the undisclosed buyout which will add a string of clients to its roster.

The combined group represents organisations such as University of Warwick, West Midlands Combined Authority, Coventry City Council, Coventry Airport owner Rigby Group and property agency Fisher German.

The tie-up has created one of the largest PR agencies in the Midlands, with Advent Communications continuing to trade under its current name from its Coventry office.

Will Savage, who will head PLMR's Midlands team, said: "Since we were founded in 2017, PLMR's Midlands office has been proud to support many leading organisations in the region.

"Over the years, we have worked closely with Advent on a number of projects so coming together is both a natural progression for us and will be transformative in the way we serve our clients in the region."

Adam Dent is a former press journalist who co-founded Advent Communications in 1998 and will remain on with the business following the buyout deal.

He added: "This is a really progressive move for Advent, our team and our clients.

"It is great that we are joining such a highly regarded national group which will allow us to add to our services and help grow our client base.

"We have worked with PLMR and it is a very natural fit for both companies."

PLMR also has offices in London, Glasgow and Chelmsford.

Managing director Ollie Lane said: "This news is an important part of our strategy for client-focused growth.

"We believe that having a strong presence both in London and regionally plugs us into current trends in politics and in business with so much dynamism and growth right around the country.

"The Advent team is a brilliant addition to the PLMR family with a strong Midlands pedigree giving us even deeper skills right across the board, enabling us to better serve all of our clients."

Advisers on the deal were LDP Luckmans and Wright Hassall.
