Buying a striker in January could really help Everton kick on and finish the season strongly

We're not too far off the opening of the transfer window in January and a few months ago I was hoping Everton wouldn't be needing to do any business then.

We spent money in the summer and brought some players in but obviously things didn't exactly to plan although we are hoping getting the long-awaited away win under our belts is a sign of better things ahead.

Historically Marcel Brands and Marco Silva haven't seemed to be big fans of bringing in players in January unless it was really badly needed.

I do think Everton fans would like to see a striker brought in though.

We haven't seen too much of Moise Kean yet this season for one reason or another.

We've got to trust Marco Silva and the coaching staff as to why he's not getting many minutes on the pitch, whether that's to do with his performances in training or whatever.

We are all crying out for a bit more in the final third when we're looking to break teams down and fans still hope that the huge promise the 19-year-old showed at Juventus will be fulfilled at Goodison but sometimes you have to be really patient with young players.

We've had some tough breaks with injuries and form in the first third of the season but if we can get through this big run of games in the build-up to the festive period, a fresh face or two in January could really help us kick on and finish the season strongly.

This squad is still capable of finishing in or around the European spots and, while we've made it difficult for ourselves, a good run of results could change everything and put us in a position to really push forward.
