The High Street slump looks as though it's setting in for the winter. The Guardian reports that retailers are planning sales well ahead of the traditional January time, so buyers can expect bargains in the run-up to as well as in the aftermath of Christmas.
This will be great for us all as individual buyers, but the smaller independent retailer who can't discount as deeply as the High Street conglomerates is going to have a serious problem just when they'd normally expect a bit of a boom time.
