Buyer lists £2 coin found in his car for £1million on eBay

A hopeful eBay seller has listed a £2 coin he found in his car on eBay for £1million after saying a dealer offered him more than £5,000 for it.

The unnamed seller listed the coin on the site and it attracted a number of watchers.

The 2006 coin features a portrait of Isambard Kingdom Brunel in front of some of his famous designs.

The seller says a dealer offered £5,000 for the coin, but they rejected the price.

The dealer is said to have made a higher offer, which they also turned down, claiming they had the feeling it was worth more based on the reaction, reports The Mirror.

The coin has the text: "Engineer 1806-1859".

They are also selling an 'extremely rare 50 pence coin' which features Mrs Tittle Mouse - a character from a Beatrix Potter book - also for £1 million, and a Polish Order of the White Eagle sash badge for £9,000.

According to ChangeChecker the Brunel coin is common and around eight million were minted. Despite that, a number are listed on eBay with prices up to £8,000 or even £15,000 claiming they have minting errors.

Others are selling for £3.

The 2002 Commonwealth games Northern Ireland £2 coin is thought to be the rarest coin of them all.

Money experts at ChangeChecker also created a Scarcity Index which outline the most valuable coins ever.

Other pieces worth keeping an eye out for are the First World War Navy £2, from 2015, The Great Fire of London £2 from the following year and the 2016 Shakespeare Comedy and Tragedy £2.
