You can buy loads of things at Topshop – everything from glitter phone cases to a shearling coat for close to £900. But, unless we are mistaken, there hasn’t been much in the way of crockery. Until now. In a collaboration with Wedgwood, the high-street brand used two patterns – that might more usually be found on dinner services – on blouses and dresses for their Unique collection. And now the collab is taking Topshop beyond the wardrobe and towards the kitchen. A cup and saucer have been produced in a limited edition by Wedgwood for Topshop, using the specially created Blackbird pattern, a classic floral of a strawberry plant, but with a blackbird stealing fruit printed on the inside of the bone-china cup. A mix of genteel and slightly goth, it’s very English – as is appropriate for an alliance between these two brands. The temptation is to drink tea from the cup while wearing one of the dresses. It’s a whole new definition of a conversation print.
