Butlin's to extend closure of holiday resorts for another six weeks - here's all you need to know

A popular resort on the Lincolnshire coast will not re-open for at least another six weeks, its owners have confirmed in a statement.

Butlin's closed in line with government advice at the start of the coronavirus pandemic and the decision was due to be in place until at least May 14.

However, the chain, which has a centre in Skegness, announced yesterday the closure will be extended until June 7. This includes other resorts in Minehead and Bognor Regis.

The firm's statement said: "In line with current Government advice, we've taken the decision to extend the closure of our resorts until June 7.

"This includes our May half term breaks, which we know will be disappointing, but these are unprecedented times for everyone. We’ll get through this and back to providing great breaks for you all when the time is right.

"In the meantime, we want to give you as much reassurance as possible. We’ve introduced our new Coronavirus Book With Confidence Guarantee to give you extra peace of mind, and our wonderful Contact Centre team are on hand ready to help re-plan your break.

"Thank you for your patience and support. We’re really pleased so many of you have chosen to move your dates to later this year or next – we look forward to welcoming you back to Butlin's soon."

Customers who were due to be on a break at Butlin's before June 7 can either re-book through the company's website or ask for a refund.
