Butler wanted in Edinburgh to 'clean small yacht' - for £55k a year plus free car and accommodation

A 'large private estate' in Edinburgh are currently looking for a butler, and the pay is out of this world.

The job is being advertised on the British Butler Institute website; a school that trains butlers in the UK, including butlers that have gone on to work at Buckingham Palace.

The advert reads:

"A live in butler is required for a large private estate in Edinburgh, Scotland.

"An experienced live in Butler is required to work in a large house. This is a fairly relaxed hands on role and the right candidate will be flexible and happy to put their hand to a bit of everything.

"Your duties will include (but not limited to): laying and serving at table, serving drinks, clearing away and tidying, keeping rooms well presented, care of silverware, walking dogs, running errands and shopping, cleaning a small yacht, looking after guests and their needs, liaising with the other household staff which include a house keeper, daily cleaners, chef and driver/handyman, dealing with inventory and keeping basic accounts.

"You will be provided with super accommodation large enough for a family of 2-3 if need be, and your utilities will be covered. A car is provided. You must be smartly presented and very pro-active and hands on.

"Salary per annum: £55000

"Start date: ASAP."
