Bute Energy signs lease for new George Street office

Crown Estate Scotland has signed a five-year lease with Bute Energy to let out an office at George Street in Edinburgh.

The onshore wind and solar energy company aims to provide low-cost renewable energy to local communities.

The deal now leaves only one remaining suite within the building. The first-floor suite comprises 2,628 sq ft of space with partial fit-out.

Fiona Simpson, asset manager for Crown Estate Scotland, said: “We’re thrilled to have secured Bute Energy for our building on George Street - their aim of providing renewable energy and working with local communities fits in well with Crown Estate Scotland’s own ethos.”

JLL advised Crown Estate Scotland jointly with Cushman & Wakefield.

Ewan Scott, a surveyor at JLL, added: “It is great to see another letting at 39 George Street in the current market and this is testament to the proactive and flexible approach Crown Estate Scotland have taken to their leasing strategy.”
