Busy Tuesday for Glentoran as they announce contract extensions

Glentoran have been announcing several new contract deals for players at the club.

The Irish Cup winners are plotting their course for next season and beyond.

Mick McDermott has already been busy in the transfer market, confirming the signings of Luke McCullough, Jamie McDonagh and Rory Brown.

And now a number of the current first-team squad have committed their futures to the Oval club.

Legendary goalkeeper Elliott Morris has signed a new one-year contract for 2020/21.

Since joining the East Belfast club in 2002, Morris has gone on to make 742 appearances.

He starred in the club's Irish Cup semi-final win over Cliftonville with two saves in the penalty shootout.

Meanwhile, mdfielder Ciaran O'Connor has been rewarded with a new deal following his impressive end to the season.

O'Connor - who joined Glentoran in the January transfer window - starred as substitute in the Irish Cup final against Ballymena United, which the Glens won 2-1 in extra-time.

Meanwhile, striker Cameron Stewart has also earned a new deal with the Glens.

The former Linfield forward arrived at the Oval in the summer of 2019 before signing an extension.

Elsewhere, youngster Mal Smith and lifelong Glenman Stevie Gordon have also agreed contract extensions.

Glentoran are preparing for their Europa League bow against HB Torshavn of the Faroe Islands at The Oval on August 20.

If they clear that hurdle they will travel to Scottish Premiership side Motherwell on August 27.
