Busy train line shut from Cardiff to Barry for safety inspection

There is railway disruption across a large part of the network in south Wales.

The railway line between Cardiff's Grangetown and Barry Island has been closed after a safety inspection after a driver reported an issue with the track at 8.45am on Tuesday.

Network Rail said an engineer had been sent to the area to carry out the inspection.

It has meant delays on the Rhymney Line with trains to Cardiff Central and Barry Island possibly being cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes.

How to claim for delayed trains:

Transport for Wales said train services to and from these stations "may be subject to disruption on all routes".

They say that disruption is expected until 11am.

National Rail says that a safety inspection of the track is taking place at Grangetown.

Cardiff Bus will accept rail tickets.
