Busy Scottish city street taped off by police following 'incident'

POLICE have sealed off part of a busy street in Glasgow, following reports of an incident. 

A large police cordon is in place on Sauchiehall Street as the outside of both a Greggs and Cafe Nero have been taped off and guarded by officers. 

According to reports, the Scottish Ambulance Service is also in attendance.  

The Glasgow Times has reported that there is blood on the pavement inside the cordon and that police are investigating.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 1.23pm to attend an incident on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.

"We dispatched an ambulance to the scene and transported one patient to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.15pm on Wednesday, 30 July, we received a report of a disturbance on [[Sauchiehall Street]] in Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and a man was taken to hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
