Busy roundabout at M8 junction in West Lothian will close for five weeks

Drivers in West Lothian may suffer delays as a bust roundabout at a junction of the M8 is closing for around five weeks.

The A801 roundabout, which is at Junction 4 of the motorway, is closing for maintenance work from Monday, February 3.

Both off and on slips for the M8 will close at the junction, along with a stretch of the A801.

Traffic using the M8 has been advised to use either Junction 3A at Starlaw or 4A at Heartlands instead.

Diversions will be in place for local traffic heading north or south along the A801 via either Blackburn or Whitburn main streets.

A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: "The A801 roundabout at Junction 4 M8 requires a full road reconstruction carried out.

"This means a road closure is required to allow the significant work to be safely carried out. We apologise for any inconvenience caused while this essential work is completed."

A map of the closure is available here.
