Busy night for GMP as police stop several drivers across Greater Manchester

Police stopped numerous drivers for various alleged offences across Greater Manchester last night.

It was a busy night for GMP in areas including Wardley and Bolton town centre on Tuesday (December 22).

Police traffic officers stopped the driver of an Audi A3 on Manchester Road in Wardley.

They claim the driver’s MOT test certificate had expired on January 8 this year.

Police pulled the car over in Wardley (GMP Traffic)

In a tweet, officers said: “XT58 stopped this Audi A3 on Manchester Road Wardley. Test certificate expired 8th Jan 2020. Driver... ‘It's ok I'm going to the garage tomorrow.’ TOR issued.”

Police say they stopped another motorist in Bradshawgate after they allegedly passed police “at speed” on Worsley Road in Walkden.

The driver of the Corsa was eventually and arrested just after midnight after allegedly “failing a roadside drug test”.

In a tweet, GMP Traffic said: “The Corsa passed XT58 at speed on Worsley Road North Walkden and didn’t slow much when he saw another traffic car in Farnworth.

“Pre emotive tactics used to prevent a pursuit. Driver would then fail a roadside drug test - positive for cannabis."
