One of Merseyside's busiest roads is blocked tonight after a crash in rush hour traffic.
A section of Scaffold Lane is blocked following an accident between Long Lane and Orrell Hill Lane.
The accident happened on the A565 in Ince Woods, between Thornton and Formby.
Police said they received a report of the accident at around 5.15pm this evening. Initial reports suggested it was a damage only accident and no one was injured.
Further details of the accident are not yet clear.
Traffic information service INRIX reported: "A565 Scaffold Lane in both directions closed, heavy traffic due to accident between Long Lane and B5193 Orrell Hill Lane. The road was closed at 17:55."
Photographs from the scene showed that police had blocked the busy road, which runs from Thornton to Formby.
