Busy Manchester city centre street closed following crash between motorcyclist and taxi

Emergency crews were called to Manchester city centre following a collision involving a motorcyclist and a taxi.

The collision happened on Peter Street close to the Midland Hotel and Revolución de Cuba Bar at rush hour on Friday (March 29).

Paramedics attended the incident, which happened at around 5.40pm, and treated a person with minor injuries.

One eyewitness told the M.E.N that paramedics were working at the scene to treat a man close to the Pizza Express restaurant.

Peter Street was closed in both directions between Mount Street and Southmill Street for around an hour.

Traffic between Deansgate and Mount Street was also affected while police dealt with the incident.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Officers were called to a report of a collision between a taxi and a motorcyclist at 5.42pm on Peter Street.

"This is a minor injury road traffic colliision.

"The road was temporarily closed with emergency services dealt with the incident."
