A major stretch of road through Falkirk could be closed for days after a sinkhole appeared last night.
Emergency services rushed to Bellsdyke Road in Larbert, shortly after 6pm on Tuesday October, 19, after they were alerted a pathway had collapsed.
The incident happened between Tryst Road and Hamilton Road and near to the entrance of Bellsdyke Hospital.
Specialist engineers have been dispatched to the scene as they try to understand how the hole has occurred.

They say that the priority is to ensure the sinkhole is made safe and repairs are carried out to the utilities beneath the surface.
Falkirk Live understands there is currently no timescale for the road to reopen and locals could be facing disruption for days.
A Falkirk Council spokesperson said: "The A88 Bellsdyke Road, Larbert between Tryst Road and Hamilton Road is closed for road safety reasons following wash out.
"Investigation works ongoing."
Scottish Water say it is currently unclear what has caused the sinkhole on the footpath in Bellsdyke Road.
They added: "Our teams, along with engineers from other utilities, are on site making the area safe and inspecting the damage to the infrastructure in the hole.
"We are liaising with all the organisations involved to assess the situation and once the hole has been made stable, the cause of it can be investigated."
