Busy Falkirk road closed after two vehicle smash near police station

A car crash has closed a main road through Falkirk town centre.

Emergency crews rushed to West Bridge Street in the town at around 12pm this afternoon.

Firefighters are using special cutting equipment to free someone who appears to be trapped in a car.

It's not known if anyone is badly injured.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 12pm on Monday, 19 April, 2021 following the report of a two vehicle road crash on West Bridge Street, Falkirk.

"Emergency services are in attendance and the road is currently closed."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 12.01pm on Monday, April 19, to reports of a collision involving two vehicles at High Street, Falkirk.

"Operations control immediately mobilised two appliances to the scene. Crews are currently still in attendance."
