Emergency gas engineers have closed off an area in Edinburgh while they deal with a gas leak.

Edinburgh City Council warned locals that there is no access to Chesser Avenue from Slateford Road while SGN attends to a gas leak.

Motorists will be unable to access Hutchison Terrace from Slateford Road while the repairs are being carried out.

In a statement, SGN said: “We need to carry out emergency repairs to our gas network at the junction of Slateford Road and Hutchison Terrace in Edinburgh.

Our engineers will be working in the northbound carriageway of Hutchison Terrace. For safety, motorists will be unable to access Hutchison Terrace from Slateford Road while we carry out this urgent work.

A signed diversion is in place for affected road users. Please check with local bus companies for updates to services.

The existing traffic light system at this junction will remain in operation. However, an alternative pedestrian crossing has been setup further along Hutchison Terrace.
