Busy brass band kicks-off 2023 with appeal for members

After a busy 2022, Kirkton Youth Band is now looking to attract new players as they begin 2023.

The brass band is based in Bathgate under the umbrella organisation of Kirkton Brass Bathgate and they rehearse on Monday evenings in the Jim Walker Partnership Centre in Bathgate.

The conductor of Kirkton Youth Band is local primary teacher Karen Heenan who also plays principal cornet in Kirkton Brass.

The band’s blue uniform, including their logo symbolising the Kirkton Park gates, is well recognised in Bathgate and West Lothian as a result of playing at concerts in local venues such as the Jim Walker Partnership Centre, the Regal Connect Theatre, Kirkton Park and local care homes.

Kirkton Youth Band welcomes players aged eight and above. The band provides an excellent opportunity to play as part of a group and meet musicians from other schools.
