Busted’s Matt Willis has said he worries about embarrassing his children with “dad dancing” when he leaps around on stage.
Willis, who has daughters Trixie, nine, and Isabelle, two, and son Ace, seven, with TV presenter Emma Willis, said it is “weird” when he spots his family and friends in the audience at gigs.
He told A List: “I’m playing a role in some way, I’m there to entertain, so don’t make me come into real life. When I see my wife and my family it brings me straight back and I feel like a d***.
"I’m pulling rock moves and I feel really silly. If I see my son, am I the embarrassing dad? Am I doing dad dancing? What do you think of me? All this stuff comes into your head.”
Willis and bandmates Charlie Simpson and James Bourne recently completed an arena tour of latest album Half Way There, which peaked at number two in the charts. The trio will perform alongside Kylie Minogue, Tears for Fears and Nile Rodgers among others at Hampton Court Palace Festival on June 8.
Willis, who grew up in neighbouring Molesey, said it is “incredible” to perform somewhere he believed was the “most amazing place” as a child.
Discussing their set, he said: “Looking at that line up it does feel a bit strange to be amongst those names. We were always the weird odd kids who never really fit in ... now we seem to have found people seem to like that.”
Busted will perform at Hampton Court Palace Festival on June 8.
