Busted announce two Irish concerts for 20th anniversary greatest hits tour

Pop-punk band Busted have announced a Dublin concert as part of their 20th anniversary tour.

The tour will see Essex heartthrobs James Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson play their greatest hits to venues full of die hard fans.

Busted, as we know them, formed in 2002, bringing their hits like What I Came To School For, Year 3000 and Sleeping with the Light On.

The band has had four UK number one singles, won two Brit awards, released four studio albums and sold over five million records.

The group were credited as bringing ‘new energy’ to the pop scene 20 years ago, and even inspiring youngsters to pick up a guitar.

The band’s rise to stardom ended out of the blue when frontman Charlie Simpson left in 2005 to focus on his alternative rock group Fightstar.

Willis and Bourne also went in search of their own solo projects.

Willis entered and won reality show I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and discovered a new interest through acting, including an appearance in West End production, 2:22 A Ghost Story.

Willis and Bourne were brought back together in 2013 when the band’s successors in cheerfully cheeky pop-punk, McFly, proposed a collaboration.

The upcoming tour will see Busted bring along special guests including Simple Plan, All Time Low, McFly, and more.

Irish fans of Busted were initially unhappy after the comeback announcement due to no Irish dates being included. Taking to Instagram, fans flocked to the comment section to share their response. One disgruntled fan said: "Where is Belfast or Dublin"

A second said: "@jamesfutureboybourne @charliesimpson @mattjwillis @busted add a date(s) on there for Belfast or Dublin or both, pretty pleaseeeee."

But now the band have announced a date in the 3Arena, Dublin on Friday, 6 October 2023 and SSE Arena, Belfast on Sunday, 8 October 2023.

2023 will see 15 of Busted’s classic hits reworked and released ahead of the major UK and Ireland tour.

Fans can sign up to Busted’s mailing list to receive instant access to the pre-sale which opens at 9am on Wednesday, 12 April.

Further remaining tickets will then go on general sale from 9am on Friday, 14 April.

If you want to be in with a chance to meet the band, a limited number of VIP and Meet & Greet packages will be available with prices starting from €119 + booking fee (subject to service charge).

VIP and Meet & Greet packages must be purchased in addition to a general access ticket.
