Bust Toys 'R' Us to 'reopen by Christmas' - but only in the USA

Dearly beloved but now collapsed retail chain Toys 'R' Us may reopen in time for Christmas - but only in the USA.

In 2018 the iconic shop went bust after attempt to sell the struggling firm failed.

While it is unlikely to return to its former glory any time soon, the brand behind the company - Tru Kids - wants to reopened 12 stores in the US by the end of the year.

Former executive of the retailer, Richard Barry, is due to pitch the plans at an industry conference later this week, Bloomberg reported.

It is not yet clear whether the regenerated store will ship to the UK.

Those lucky enough to be near one of the 12 stores should be aware that the Toys R Us of tomorrow are somewhat different to the ones the public knew and loved.

The new outlets will be about 10,000-square-feet, which is roughly a third of the size of the classic stores.

A spokesperson for Tru Kids told Bloomberg that the company isn't ready to make the plans public yet.

The Toys 'R' Us brand went bust seventy years after it launched, first in the US in 2017 then a year later in the UK.

Across the country 106 stores closed, costing 3,000 jobs.
