Power restored after blackout hits parts of Adelaide's CBD

Power has been restored to sections of Adelaide's CBD as authorities continue to investigate a possible fault with an underground cable.

SA Power Networks (SAPN) said at one stage on Friday afternoon about 440 businesses and homes in the city were affected.

A number of traffic lights in the CBD were out as was power in parts of the Central Market.

Areas affected included Angas, Pulteney, Frome and Hutt streets.

An SAPN spokesman said a faulty underground cable might have been the cause of the outages.

The state has the nation's highest electricity prices and South Australians have suffered numerous outages, including the devastating statewide blackout in September 2016.
