Business units plan for former Staffordshire slaughterhouse site

Three new business units could be built on the site of a former slaughterhouse after plans were submitted to a Staffordshire council.

KB Developments wants to knock down the derelict slaughterhouse site at Leek Cattle Market.

The plans would see a new single storey building erected at the Staffordshire Moorlands site - and six parking spaces.

The design an access statement submitted to planners at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council said: "The application site is currently occupied by the remains of the former slaughterhouse that operated on the cattle market site. It has been unused for many years and has suffered from vandalism.

"The applicant purchased the site with the aim of providing small units for local entrepreneurs and local businesses looking for a base.

"The site is located on the edge of the town centre and is well located in terms of access to other business sites and residential areas giving opportunities to live near work. It is close to local and major roads and within walking distance of the town’s bus station. The site is therefore in a highly sustainable location.

"The existing building is an eyesore. The application proposes to demolish this and to erect the proposal in its place."
