Business software specialist Ideagen pulls 'substantial' Russian ties in support of Ukraine

Management of a business software specialist with operations around the world say they have pulled any dealings with Russia in support of the people of Ukraine.

Ben Dorks, chief executive of Nottingham-based Ideagen Plc said was cancelling all business with Vladimir Putin’s Russia. Ideagen told Buisnesslive that it had a “substantial” amount of business with Russia.

Boris Johnson has vowed that Britain “cannot and will not just look away” as Russian tanks and helicopters continued to move into Ukraine and missiles fell on strategic military infrastructure. Civilian casualties have been reported.

The PM pledged to unite with allies to respond with a massive package of sanctions designed to “hobble the Russian economy”.

In a televised statement, Mr Johnson said the world could not stand by and allow the freedom of Ukraine to be “snuffed out” as Moscow hit its neighbour with a wide-ranging attack, hitting cities and bases with airstrikes or shelling.

He said: “This act of wanton and reckless aggression is an attack not just on Ukraine, it’s an attack on democracy and freedom in Eastern Europe and around the world.”

Ideagen provides global software and services to more than 7,500 customers in industries such as aviation, financial services, life-sciences, healthcare and manufacturing.

It has operations throughout the UK, US, Europe, Middle East and South-East Asia, and has made more than two dozen acquisitions since its admission to the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) on the London Stock Exchange.

Mr Dorks said: “Ideagen stands firmly behind the people and nation of Ukraine. With immediate effect, we have terminated contracts with all suppliers and customers in Russia and strongly condemn the actions of the Russian government.

“We will continue to offer any support we can to our partners in Ukraine and offer our prayers to its people.”
