The State Administration for Market Regulation conditionally approved Tencent’s acquisition of audio platform Ximalaya to address anti-competitive concerns. The regulator imposed five constraints on Tencent, including prohibitions on raising prices or lowering quality.

China pilots mandatory labels for short videos

The Cyberspace Administration of China is rolling out new regulations requiring content labeling for short videos to combat misinformation. Twelve major platforms, including Douyin, Kuaishou and Xiaohongshu, are piloting the rules, which require users to select from six tags before publishing videos.
