Business boomed at healthcare firm run by Matt Hancock's kiss friend thanks to pandemic

Business has boomed at the healthcare company run by the brother of the Health Secretary’s close friend thanks to the pandemic, the Mirror can reveal.

Roberto Coladangelo - who is understood to be the younger brother of Gina Coladangelo - has been a director at Partnering Health Limited, which has won a string of NHS contracts, since October 2019.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock appointed his aide Ms Coladangelo as a non-executive director at the Department of Health in September 2020.

CCTV footage showing the pair kissing was reportedly recorded this May.

Accounts for the PHL group shows revenue has soared 37% to £18.4m, “mainly due to the Group’s response to the delivery of several Covid related services as part of the UK’s response to the disease”.

The firm’s profit before tax doubled to £1.1m last year and it describes itself on its website as “an independent healthcare company providing services and quality solutions to the NHS and private healthcare partners”.

It was reported today that Roberto and Gina Coladangelo are siblings and family records documents confirm they both have a mother with the same maiden name.

A “Gina and Olly” - the name used by her businessman husband Oliver Tress - recently donated to a Justgiving charity fundraiser in Mr Coladangelo’s name.

PHL said it has “rapidly designed and mobilised services which have contributed to every facet of the health sector’s response to the [ Coronavirus ] disease” expanding beyond Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to “support services covering a national footprint”.

PHL’s website shows it is involved in Covid 19 testing in the community and among care home staff, as well as monitoring Covid patients at home and certifying deaths in a temporary mortuary.

There is no suggestion that PHL Group or Mr Coladangelo had acted improperly in the awarding of government contracts.

The Mirror asked the Department of Health to confirm if Ms Coladangelo had declared this relationship but did not receive a response.
