Business awards event postponed as coronavirus restrictions tighten

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has led to the postponement of the Hull Daily Mail / Hull Live Business Awards 2020.

Hopes to stage the celebration event in November have been dashed, with the latest restrictions announced this week reversing previous relaxations.

A highlight of the business calendar for two decades, the black tie gala dinner traditionally attracts hundreds of guests.

It has now been provisionally set for March 11, 2021, again at Hull’s DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.

While the grand reveal will be delayed, award applications are still being sought .

The deadline for entries for the 14 awards welcoming nominations has been extended until Friday, to allow businesses managing unprecedented demands on their time and effort to get their forms filled.

The categories are: Business in the Face of Adversity, sponsored by Humber LEP; Apprentice of the Year, sponsored by Trident; Young Entrepreneur of the Year, sponsored by Hull City Council; Entrepreneur of the Year, sponsored by Sewell Group; Innovation and Technology Award, sponsored by BP; Environmental and Sustainability Award, sponsored by Wykeland Beal; Customer Focus of the Year; Training and Development Award, sponsored by East Riding College; Contribution to East Riding Award, sponsored by East Riding Council; Employee of the Year, sponsored by Cranswick; Start-up Business of the Year, sponsored by Horncastle / MKM; Small Business of the Year, sponsored by Smailes Goldie; Medium-Sized Business of the Year and Large Business of the Year.
