Business advisor 'delighted' to sell off Jamie Oliver's failed restaurants

Will Wright and Mark Orton of KPMG's restructuring practice have been appointed as joint administrators of the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group and its linked companies.

They have appointed specialist property business advisor Christie & Co to sell the leasehold property of the group including its two prime location Scottish restaurants in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The sites at 7 George Square, Glasgow and in The Assembly Rooms at 54 George Street, Edinburgh are two out of a portfolio across the country that have been put on the market.

The Edinburgh site covers 7,083 sq ft and has a current rent of £303,000 and a rateable value of £280,500. It is for sale at offers over £100,000.

The Glasgow site covers 7,974 sq ft and has a current rent of £246,000 and a rateable value of £210,000. It is on the market at offers over £75,000.

Jamie Harvie-Austin, director at Christie & Co said: “Christie & Co is delighted to have been appointed by KPMG to assist in the disposal of these restaurants, as this provides a rare opportunity for restaurant operators to acquire extremely well-located premises in city centre locations.”

The sites are available on a group, sub group or individual basis, and Christie & Co expects to receive strong interest over the next week with best bids due by Thursday 30 May 2019.
