Bushwalkers are reminded to take extreme caution in hot conditions after a woman was airlifted to Canberra Hospital and others were treated for heat exhaustion at the weekend.

Emergency services assisted an injured bushwalker at Bungonia National Park, Bungonia - about 37km east of Goulburn - just after 1pm on Saturday.

Police were told the 32-year-old woman fell while walking a trail and became stuck between two boulders, suffering possible spinal injuries.

She was treated at the scene by a doctor who was also bush walking in the area, before Police Rescue arrived.

Due to high winds, the woman was carried out by the two senior constables, before she was able to be airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

Police found two more women suffering heat exhaustion as they left the park. The women were treated and guided from the park.

The police officers also began suffering heat exhaustion and were taken to Goulburn Hospital for treatment for dehydration.

Police urge bushwalkers to be well-prepared for adverse conditions, particularly in the heat.

Those heading out are reminded to:

  • Pack adequate supplies of food and water, as well as navigation and first aid equipment.
  • Register your planned route and aim to stick to that
  • Follow the map and walking trails
  • Tell friends and family when you expect to return
  • Carry an emergency beacon
