Emergency warning downgraded for Kimberley bushfire

About 12 homes in the community of Egret were under threat from the fire.

Authorities have downgraded an emergency bushfire warning in the Kimberley to a watch-and-act alert.

The warning was issued for Egret near Kununurra in the region's north-east.

The local volunteer fire brigade said about 12 homes had been under threat.

A bushfire watch also remains in place for the nearby town of Kununurra.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the blaze started near Four Mile Creek in Kununurra, and is being treated as suspicious.
