HUNTER bushfires remain in hand on Friday morning despite new blazes emerging in hot conditions on Thursday.
New fires, including one at Burwood Road in Dudley that scorched two hectares, flared amid the steamy weather but were classified as under control by Friday morning.
Another fire that emerged at Seventh Street in Weston scorched about eight hectares.
An out-of-control bushfire was burning at Charlestown on Thursday evening, with authorities warning residents to be on alert.
The fire, burning at Whitburn Close, was upgraded to Watch and Act level after it broke out amid soaring temperatures on Thursday, but was later downgraded to Advice as the immediate threat weakened.
By Friday morning the blaze had been removed from the NSW Rural Fire Service's warning maps.
While advice level means there is no immediate danger, residents are urged to stay up to date in case the situation changes.
