Bushfire battle goes on after homes burnt in Grampians

Victoria's emergency services are still working to contain bushfires not yet under control in the Grampians and near Ballarat.

* Some of the worst bushfire conditions since Black Summer in 2019-20 sparked fires in the Grampians National Park and in Newtown near Ballarat on Tuesday

* At least 25 homes, 24 in Pomonal and one at Dadswells Bridge have been destroyed by the bushfires

* The threat level of the fire to the park's east affecting Pomonal and Halls Gap was reduced to a stay informed warning on Thursday morning, but it is not yet under control

* The threat level for the fire to the north of the Grampians is reduced, but fire crews are still working to keep the blaze contained to the park

* Almost all fires were believed to be started from lightning strikes as storms lashed the state on Tuesday

* The Grampians National Park remains closed

* There have been no reports of people missing due to the fires

* Emergency relief centres have been set up in Ararat and Stawell

* Two local primary schools and two early childhood education centres remained closed on Thursday
